Let me be clear, I loved, loved, loved doing this race! I have every intention of doing the same half marathon next year. [Read more…]
Hope everyone had a wonderful Friday and an even better weekend!
Tomorrow I’m leaving on a jet plane to San Francisco, making my way to Napa and Sonoma. I will be meeting my friend Christina who is flying from Dallas. Once we meet up, get our rental car, and grab a bite to eat we’ll hit the road for wine country! I haven’t quite decided how I will be blogging on this trip. While I like to post daily during the week, I do not know if my accommodations and plans will allow for daily posts. We’ll have to see, and if I cannot blog daily, regularly scheduled posts will occur again beginning on Thursday. 🙂
So I was not able to carry on with my half marathon training this morning despite pleas, prayers, and good thoughts.
When I woke up at 5:30am today I still felt a pain my foot. After talking about my current physical state in depth with Tommy and my friend Katie on the phone last night I decided to take the advice of listening to my body. Not going to lie I was 95% ready to just tough it up and do the elliptical instead of my 3 mile run so I could do something active today, but Tommy reminded me that 1) my whole goal was to run the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon and I couldn’t very well do this if I further injured myself and 2) he assured me that my months of training wouldn’t be for naught with my losing two days of training. 1) Tommy, Violet and I went to Great Falls Park in Virginia this past Sunday. It was a perfect morning for a little hiking with our baby. 🙂 If we had had more time here, I would have packed a picnic lunch for us to enjoy as there were tons of picnic tables throughout the park’s trails. Next time! [Read more…]
This Sunday will mark my completed first 2 weeks of training for my 12-week training program for my second half marathon I will be running later in the summer. I’m feeling pretty good. 🙂
Yesterday marked the first official day of my 2nd half marathon training plan!! [Read more…]
So much for March 20th being the official start of “spring”. D.C. and its surrounding area has had such strange weather lately – it feels more like that start of winter than spring. [Read more…]
I have officially completed my goal of running a half marathon!
The D.C. Rock ‘N’ Roll Half (and Full) Marathon was this past Saturday. Part of me couldn’t believe it was time for the race to be here already and the other part of me was getting a little tired from all of the training and was just anxious to run the race. There was the impending threat of rain on race day (70% chance of it raining all day), which would have been awful for all the runners who had spent some much time and energy training for the race. I personally would have cried in anger and frustration if it had rained and probably wouldn’t have finished the race. Alas, it didn’t rain! The weather turned out to be perfect, and we even saw some sunlight during the day. [Read more…]
I realize that this “wish list” is a little ridiculous since I have not yet run my first half marathon. This will happen on March 16 when I run the D.C. Rock “N” Roll Half Marathon. However in my defense, I strongly believe I will love the race so much I will catch the running bug and will want to run some other half marathons. Isn’t there a saying when talking about half marathons and marathons “it’s more mental than physical”? (I have also been thinking about this way too much this week).
So here’s to hoping that all my positive mental energy and soon to be training do indeed ring true and I love running half marathons! [Read more…]
