It’s a good thing I ran this morning (specifically doing a 35 minute tempo run per my half-marathon training plan). Why you ask – because I had a big food binge yesterday.
I was doing okay until after work. Two colleagues and I had planned on going to Post Pub for a belated birthday celebration. Today was my LAST day of training for the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon!!! Woohoo! I know I said it the last time for my first half marathon, but man it’s crazy that the race is so close now (2 days!) Time definitely flies. I’m feeling similar to how I felt before the Rock ‘N’ Roll half, anxious and excited to finally run it, but also a little nervous – I hope my body can handle it and that I don’t injure anything in the process. So I was not able to carry on with my half marathon training this morning despite pleas, prayers, and good thoughts.
When I woke up at 5:30am today I still felt a pain my foot. After talking about my current physical state in depth with Tommy and my friend Katie on the phone last night I decided to take the advice of listening to my body. Not going to lie I was 95% ready to just tough it up and do the elliptical instead of my 3 mile run so I could do something active today, but Tommy reminded me that 1) my whole goal was to run the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon and I couldn’t very well do this if I further injured myself and 2) he assured me that my months of training wouldn’t be for naught with my losing two days of training.
