Last night my mom, Tommy, two family friends, and I went to 701 for the last night of DC’s Restaurant Week. My mom and I in particular had been wanting to go there for a long time. Bottom line? We weren’t disappointed! [Read more…]
There are very few things that I hate in this world. One of them is rain. I just find it to be a pain and an inconvenience on so many levels.
It is rainy and cold in D.C. today.
I got to experience my first encounter with the rain earlier this morning when I was walking Violet before I left for work. I was determined not to let the weather put me in a bad mood, but surprisingly it didn’t take a lot of determination this time. (I will admit, even though I am known for my continuous cheery and optimistic disposition, if there is one thing that can zap that away for a bit, it’s rain). [Read more…]
So as you know, I won a $50 gift card to City Sports at a 5k run I ran a couple of weekends ago. Not going to lie, I was secretly hoping I would win this raffle because I had several things on my running wish list that I wanted to buy. Imagine my surprise and delight when I won it. 🙂
Without further ado, here are my goods from City Sports. I would also like to add that I didn’t need to come out of pocket for these purchases – the gift card covered it all. SCORE. [Read more…]
1. On Friday night my friend Lara and I went to see Good People at Arena Stage. We both really liked it a lot. I thought it was very funny and very witty. According to the website the play runs 2 hours and 10 minutes, but honestly it seemed over in a heartbeat. The play’s timing was so quick and precise I was able to stay engaged the entire time. I thought the woman who played the main character, Margie, was phenomenal. Lara and I both would definitely recommend seeing this.
2. I had been wanting to try Spring Mill Bread Co. on 8th Street/Barracks Row ever since my friend Max told me he bought a loaf of bread there specifically to make french toast one weekend morning and it was superb. I got my chance on Saturday because I was meeting a friend for coffee so I bought of loaf of their Cinnamon Swirl bread. I made french toast the very next morning after my 6 mile run and it was divine! [Read more…]
So remember when I wrote about other half marathons I would like to run in the future a couple of months ago?
Well last week, on a whim, I decided to register on the ‘second chance wait list’ for the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon in July later this year. It was only $1 and I decided, what the heck? I also convinced my friend Christina to do the same. According to the website, as space was made they would pick a few lucky winners from this wait list to be able to officially register for the half marathon. [Read more…]
What a great week!
I love my new job. It is pretty overwhelming, lots of moving pieces and people to meet and work with, but that is what makes it so exciting and inspiring. I have already hit the ground running with a big project and leading a team meeting for one of my cities/markets. [Read more…]
I finally ate here for brunch!
My friend Tammy and I brought our hunger and thirst to brunch early Sunday afternoon ready to tackle the all-you-can-eat brunch menu and unlimited mimosas and bloody mary’s. (Coffee, tea, iced tea, and all coke products are also unlimited).
As mentioned before, every Saturday and Sunday, Masa 14 does a $35 per person unlimited food and beverage brunch. After hearing so many rave reviews about this brunch, I wanted to investigate! Verdict? Tammy and I weren’t disappointed. We left full and a little tipsy… [Read more…]
My friend Lindsay and I decided to check out Ambar’s happy hour one day last week. Ambar is a new (and really new at that – they have been open for about 3 weeks) Balkan restaurant on 8th St. SE A.K.A. Barracks Row. It is the brainchild of Serbian restaurateur Ivan Iricanin of Masa 14 and El Centro D.F. fame. [Read more…]
1. Per my half-marathon training I have to do a 5k race. My two friends (and former colleagues) were hosting their blog’s first annual 5k this past weekend and even though its race date was a week earlier than when I was supposed to run a 5k, I wanted to do the race to support them and to get some more running practice in. So per the advice of my friend Katie I just switched this week and next week’s training program to incorporate this 5k into my training. (Instead of doing a 6 mile run for my long run on Sunday, I did the 5k this past Saturday. I will do the 6 mile run next Sunday).
It was cold outside, but the run was so much fun! To top it all off my friends were holding a raffle for a $50 gift card to City Sports and guess who won?! Yours truly. 🙂 [Read more…]
