1. In keeping with my desire to hang out on U Street more, I met up with some friends at the Brixton for drinks (unfortunately we couldn’t order food on the rooftop bar, so I guess I’ll have to go back again…) before heading to the 9:30 Club for a Lady Gaga vs. Madonna vs. Boy Band dance party with DJ Lil ‘E. Naturally we all danced our faces off! [Read more…]
I know I have already shared my 2013 resolutions with you, this isn’t a repeat of that. This is simply a list of things that I would like to do in 2013. To me, resolutions are things that you want to accomplish and/or achieve because you personally feel like it will make you a better, more well-rounded person. The majority of things on this list won’t necessarily make me a better person, I just want to do them. 🙂 [Read more…]
It has been a long, long, long time since I have been back to the National Museum of American History. I mean long. Maybe I was 6 or 7…So visiting the museum has been on my “things to do in D.C. list” for forever, particularly since the museum had a major renovation a couple of years ago. [Read more…]
Tommy and I tried a new (to us) pho place in Pentagon City last weekend, Saigon Saigon. We were really hoping we’d be pleased with this restaurant as we thought it’d be nice to have a “local” pho place we could always go to when the craving hit. Most of the pho places we have either been to or have heard about are in Annandale or in that direction.
For those that aren’t familiar with pho, it is a Vietnamese dish consisting of broth, noodles made from rice, a few herbs, and meat. It is a very popular street dish in Vietnam. [Read more…]
On Monday, my strength & stretch training day, I tried something new instead of lifting. My friend Elaine had recommended Ballet Beautiful to me the previous week as another possible workout option to do on my strength & stretch training days that is light, but effective.
Ballet Beautiful is a series of workout videos that is ballet-inspired fitness as it targets exercises and stretches to sculpt and tone ballet muscles. A ballerina walks you through some of her favorite workouts for abs, butt, arms, and inner and outer thighs. The exercises are quite challenging and don’t require weights or equipment so it is perfect for travelers and people on the go because you can do these workouts from anywhere. [Read more…]

We made it safely back home! Weather-wise the drive was just fine. However Tommy came down with something the day after Christmas so unfortunately he was miserable on the ride home, but still did two driving shifts – AMAZING! We rolled into our garage around 3am on Saturday. [Read more…]
As I type Jeff is at the tire shop getting his right rear tire replaced. If all goes well, he should be as good as new by 1:30pm. Tommy and I are chilling at Calabash waiting to get the call that all is well with Jeff. We have become fast buddies with the owner.
I was able to get my 3-mile run and strength training in (push-ups) at a gym right by the tire place, so that is done and done. Thanks for the advice Tiffany. 🙂 Kind of funny how everything seems to be working out today after the craziness of yesterday. [Read more…]
What a morning Tommy and I had!
It was supposed to be a simple, routine drive to the gym so I could bang out 3 miles on the treadmill and do some strength-training per my training plan, but it turned out to be anything but.
For starters a huge snow storm hit the Northeast last night and is expected to last all day today and until Friday at 4am. Tommy and I were aware of this when we decided to still go to the gym. (It was snowing pretty heavy when we left). We thought if we just drove slowly and carefully we would be fine. [Read more…]
