At the suggestion of a friend, I went to Seasons 52 Fresh Grill at Tyson’s Corner, for dinner on Saturday. I was very intrigued by the fact that they state that every item on their menu is less than 475 calories. [Read more…]
As you know Cairo, Egypt holds a special place in my family’s heart. Despite the chaos that is currently going on over there right now, we all look back on our time in Cairo fondly and lovingly. Whenever we get the chance to sort of re-live our experience there, we do.
I accompanied my mom and our good family friend (her daughter went to Cairo American College with me and is my high school best friend) to a concert at the Freer Gallery of Art to hear Naseer Shamma play various musical instruments with his ensemble. [Read more…]
In honor of the Snowquester that wasn’t… [Read more…]
While I wouldn’t call the snow that we got the “Snowquester” it was nice to see some snow flurries when I woke up this morning. It was also nice to be able to work from home today. 🙂
This is how Violet prepared for the incoming “Snowquester” last night. [Read more…]
1. My mom and I saw Metamorphoses at Arena Stage on Friday night. Honestly, it was all right. I felt kind of letdown. I was really looking forward to seeing this play – so much so that I practically told my mom I would be her + 1 for this particular show no questions asked – probably because of reviews like this one. There were funny scenes and the use of water as part of the set did add a fun dimension to the play, but for all the hoopla this play received, I wasn’t entirely sold. At least I didn’t fall asleep like my mom did – SHHH! The acting was great, but I don’t think I connected personally with the plot of the play. [Read more…]
And I am so over it.
In the grand scheme of things, I know I shouldn’t be complaining about the weather here in D.C. considering there are other parts of the country that are getting pounded with snow and have freezing temperatures, but I am sooooooo ready for some spring-like weather. We are expected to have a winter storm come our way on Wednesday. Whether that actually happens or not remains to be seen, but it is definitely cold outside and definitely super windy. Even Violet, who loves her walks, cowers and closes her eyes when the wind blows. [Read more…]
Yesterday was a crazy day.
It began waking up at 4am because I was on a 6am train to New York City for work. (For what it’s worth, it was my first time taking the Acela train. Loved it.) I love going to New York, whether if it’s for pleasure or work. I DO NOT love going to New York when it’s rainy, cold, and windy. Terrible idea. I had to stand in line in the freezing cold and windy rain for 40 minutes. Once I got into a cab, the day started getting better. [Read more…]
I discovered Twice, a resale website that buys and sells gently worn, not too old ,second-hand clothes from another blog I read, Peanut Butter Fingers.
I was intrigued by the website because the idea of not going to a consignment store to try and sell clothes that I didn’t want anymore (because of the fit, the style, or because I was just tired of it), but that were still in very good condition was very appealing to me. Perhaps this is what you would call laziness. [Read more…]
1. I am currently reading Mr. Penumbra’s 24 hour bookstore for book club this month. While I ordinarily wouldn’t have gravitated towards this book, I’m glad to have gotten the chance to read it. It’s pretty interesting so far. I have about 100 more pages to read – hopefully I can do it by this Sunday! [Read more…]
