At the suggestion of a friend, I went to Seasons 52 Fresh Grill at Tyson’s Corner, for dinner on Saturday. I was very intrigued by the fact that they state that every item on their menu is less than 475 calories. [Read more…]
1. On Friday night my friend Lara and I went to see Good People at Arena Stage. We both really liked it a lot. I thought it was very funny and very witty. According to the website the play runs 2 hours and 10 minutes, but honestly it seemed over in a heartbeat. The play’s timing was so quick and precise I was able to stay engaged the entire time. I thought the woman who played the main character, Margie, was phenomenal. Lara and I both would definitely recommend seeing this.
2. I had been wanting to try Spring Mill Bread Co. on 8th Street/Barracks Row ever since my friend Max told me he bought a loaf of bread there specifically to make french toast one weekend morning and it was superb. I got my chance on Saturday because I was meeting a friend for coffee so I bought of loaf of their Cinnamon Swirl bread. I made french toast the very next morning after my 6 mile run and it was divine! [Read more…]

Ambar is a new (and really new at that – they have been open for about 3 weeks) Balkan restaurant on 8th St. SE A.K.A. Barracks Row. It is the brainchild of Serbian restaurateur Ivan Iricanin of Masa 14 and El Centro D.F. fame. [Read more…]

I finally ate a meal here! Pacifico Cantina is described as a Tex-Mex restaurant and prides itself on the fact that everything that comes out of the kitchen is handcrafted and made from scratch.
My only appearance at this new-ish restaurant on 8th St. NE, also known as, Barracks Row, was for a birthday happy hour last summer. The only food and beverage I ate then was a glass of white wine, (I know, I didn’t even have a margarita!) chips, salsa, and some guacamole. [Read more…]
Tommy and I tried a new (to us) pho place in Pentagon City last weekend, Saigon Saigon. We were really hoping we’d be pleased with this restaurant as we thought it’d be nice to have a “local” pho place we could always go to when the craving hit. Most of the pho places we have either been to or have heard about are in Annandale or in that direction.
For those that aren’t familiar with pho, it is a Vietnamese dish consisting of broth, noodles made from rice, a few herbs, and meat. It is a very popular street dish in Vietnam. [Read more…]
