I suggested we dine here for our May dinner. [Read more…]
Who else is excited that it is Friday today? Some of our weekend plans include cheering on the Caps tonight and Sunday, taking a day trip to Fredericksburg, Virginia (a town south of D.C.) to visit a brewery, grab lunch, and walk around downtown, and sending some neighbors off to Cali at a farewell BBQ.
This past Wednesday the 14th Street Eating crew decided to trek up to the Columbia Heights section of 14th Street to eat at Thip Khao, a self-described sleek & modern eatery showcasing spicy Laotian dishes & classic cocktails with an exotic twist. [Read more…]

Happy Monday night friends!
Tonight my friends Tammy, Christina and I had our final 14th Street dinner of 2016! To celebrate another great year of eating and trying new restaurants on 14th Street, we decided to celebrate at a favorite of ours, Le Diplomate. We also had a special guest for this dinner – Tammy’s mom! [Read more…]
You may all remember that my cousin Lena (AKA Bottles) moved in with us for a few months (6) last year to help us take care of Ava once I went back to work after maternity leave. So this was Tammy and my compromise, take it or leave it! 😉
I had actually never heard of Hen Quarter, but once I saw the restaurant on Monday night I realized I have driven past it several times. [Read more…]
On Tuesday night my 14th Street gals (minus Miki 🙁 ) and I dined at Sotto for the very first time.
The entrance to the restaurant reminded me of a club entrance, which makes a lot of sense since it is self- described as a speakeasy that has live jazz, blues and neo-soul music. Sotto sits atop Ghibellina (very apropos as “sotto” means “below” in Italian) and is neatly tucked in between Rice and Pearl Dive Oyster Place. I walked down a flight of stairs and once inside quickly forgot that it was sunny outside as the entire restaurant was very dark. [Read more…]
