Happy Thursday!
This month’s “things that make me happy” will be focused on our Labor Day weekend trip to Charlottesville. We decided to take a little family trip Friday to Sunday to signal the end of summer and beginning a new season and school year!
- I found a wonderful smoothie place, the Juice Landry, to get my daily smoothies from.

- I found a gem of a park for the kids to get their energy out on Saturday morning and we met so many friendly locals that we chatted with and played with (the kids did).
- At the recommendation of a friend, we went to Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen and Brewery for lunch on Saturday and we are so glad we did. Not only was their food so, so, so good (and gluten-free and vegan friendly!), the beers we tried were also top notch (see what I did there?) We bought several 6-packs home to enjoy after vacation!

- We took a drive to Shenandoah National Park and then perched ourselves along a scenic overview to eat snacks, take in the beautiful views, and “catch and feed” all the lovely butterflies flittering about.

We hadn’t been back to Charlottesville since Ava was 1.5 years old and we really enjoyed it as a family of four. I feel like the area has a good mix of kid-friendly activities and grown-up activities to cater to all ages and interests. Tommy and I caught ourselves daydreaming that Ava chooses UVA for college and then we can get in additional weekend jaunts to this lovely part of Virginia. 🙂
