We kicked off our Memorial Day weekend with strawberry picking at Wegmeyer Farms (Oatlands location) on Saturday! We went with our friends that live in our neighborhood and it was so much fun. I had been wanting to do this for years but somehow could never get it arranged (too busy with other things, the picking time frame was too short), and here we are. 🙂

Similar to tulip-picking, the farm was practicing social distancing guidelines with smaller groups of people allowed to pick strawberries at a time and by reservation only. (And man do these reservations get scooped up! Michelle joked that getting these tickets was more stressful than Hamilton tickets).

After strawberry picking we picked up lunch from Ford’s Fish Shack and had a parking lot picnic.
On Sunday morning we cruised and scootered to the Alexandria Waterfront and Old Town. This is quickly becoming one of our weekend routines and we love it.

Then we went to South Block for smoothies and/or acai bowls.

Later that day we enjoyed a delicious Memorial Day meal in our backyard prepared by the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant!

On Memorial Day, we had Wendy come for a few hours so Tommy, Violet and I slipped away….

Then we stopped at Three Fox Vineyards where we got primo seating.

After an hour or so we headed home because we had a grill out to get to with the kiddos that evening!
I told my boss that this past weekend reminded me of weekends pre-COVID because we were pretty busy the entire weekend – and it felt wonderful.
