I have to tell you, quarantine or no quarantine, I had a pretty dang good Mother’s Day.
I slept in until 8:20am…8:20am – lets let that sink in folks. I can’t remember the last time I have done that, willingly or unwillingly, but it felt amazing. Once I was up, I was treated to breakfast in bed.
Tommy and I decided it would be fun to take a little day trip to Chesapeake Beach, Maryland (also known as one of our old neighborhoods) to get out of the house and see the water – and Violet came too!
We drove through our old neighborhood which was sweet. The beach and boardwalk was closed, but we were able to park right by the boardwalk. We took a long walk letting everyone enjoy the fresh air and get some energy out, before enjoying a few snacks pretty close to the water as we were allowed to get.
We then walked into “downtown” North Beach (while maintaining social distancing, of course). Ava and Luke got a strawberry smoothie to share and Tommy and I enjoyed seeing some of the new restaurants and shops that had opened up since our Chesapeake Beach days and what was still around – to our happiness.
We headed home after a few hours and were somehow magically able to get the kids to do a little bit of nap time (Luke) and quiet time (Ava) despite both being cut short in the car. That gave me just enough time to shower and get ready for our Italian feast from Mia’s Italian Kitchen for dinner.
Some close friends came by and we celebrated a birthday as well!
It was a wonderful day.
How was your Mother’s Day?
