Happy Monday ya’ll!
Boy, do I have an fun and snazzy post today regarding an impressive production coming to DC’s National Theatre next month – Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake presented by the St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre! The ballet features prima ballerina Irina Kolesnikova, who is making her long-anticipated US debut. This production will be touring around the United States for the first time, and I think it’s pretty telling that DC is included in this tour and that the National Theatre will be hosting this notable ballet.
Swan Lake is an impressive ballet in three acts, four scenes. Irina Kolesnikova stars as Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. The Sunday Express, London described it as, “a world-class triumph. Not to be missed… The range of emotion and style combined in the role of Odette/Odile, separates the women from the girls and Kolesnikova’s definitive interpretation must have earned a place in the Swan Lake history books.” Kolesnikova is acclaimed from London to Sydney, from Johannesburg to Paris.
She brings together guest artists from the world’s leading ballet companies in the spellbinding production Swan Lake at the National Theatre beginning Friday, Feb. 21 through Sunday, Feb. 23. Tickets are on sale now and start at $69.00, excluding applicable service charges. Tickets can be purchased online here or here. For additional show and ticket information, go here.
If you are a fan of ballet, having done it or just enjoying the pure beauty, grace, and strength of the art, you won’t want to miss this exciting production. I know I won’t be!
