Happy Hump Day ya’ll!
I don’t know about you, but I’m struggling a little today. Luke woke up at 1:00am (very unusual for him) and wouldn’t go back down until 2:30am. Then he was up for the day at 5:30am. Lots of coffee my friends, lots of coffee today.
This past Saturday my family and I did something that I’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t because Christmas is MY HOLIDAY and I always go big or go home for the holidays (annual big party, real Christmas tree, presents galore, baking, Secret Santas, you name it), but this year we hosted a Friendsgiving gathering.
I have always loved the concept of Friendsgiving and this year hosting something in November as opposed to December worked out since Thanksgiving is a week later and because we’ll be heading to Italy for Christmas on December 20th. I just knew it would be too stressful to have an annual holiday party this year with such a short time between post-Thanksgiving and when we left the country.
I am so pleased at how our Friendsgiving came together though! The concept was easy: pies galore, cheese, charcuterie and crackers, wine, and sparkling cider for the kiddos. And of course, all our amazing friends!
I baked two cranberry pecan pies and bought the rest of our pie selection from Dog Tag Bakery. The pies I chose to include in our spread were the Oreo Cream Pie, the Dutch Apple Pie, and the Chocolate Mouse Layer Pie, DELISH! Some amazing friends also brought homemade and store bought pies to share. All the cheese, charcuterie, olives and fruit came from Trader Joe’s, and I bought all the wine (red & white), sparkling cider, and crackers from Costco.
Thanks to everyone who made Friendsgiving a success!
