Okay friends, dare I say I may become a Parrot Head? Tommy and I had another great date night at the National Theater (thank you!) where we saw Jimmy Buffet’s Escape to Margaritaville and we both simply loved it. It was really good.

This morning I have been listening to “Margaritaville” nonstop and will undoubtedly have it in my head all day long. But that’s okay! I admit it, outside of my college best friend Sarah’s parents being HUGE Jimmy Buffet fans, I knew next to nothing about Buffet or his songs before last night. I assumed I may recognize one or two during the show (which I did), but my knowledge is still pretty slim. Well, both Tommy and I walked out of the show last night saying we needed to buy some Jimmy Buffet music pronto and start listening to Sirius XM’s Margaritaville station more frequently.

What I liked most about this show was that it truly let you “escape” for two hours. The music was good, the cast was talented, and the plot while a romantic cliche, it’s a cliche for a reason – it works! (Main guy character enjoys tourist-visiting flings on his island, but once a different kind of girl visits the island, he is smitten with her and his whole life is turned around, and you root for them to end up together). I also loved the set because it was vibrant, creative, and funny (those “in-bed” scenes!)
Both Tommy and I would absolutely recommend this show to anyone just simply wanting to have a good time and escape from life for 2 hours! The last show in DC is October 13th so if you’re on the fence about going, go! Hit me up in the comments if you are. I can give you a discount code!
Thank you so much for sharing tickets! My friend and I had never heard a singe Jimmy Buffet song and we quite enjoyed the show. The best part was seeing the various parrot heads (young, old etc) bop and sing along. A great experience!
You are so welcome!
