Hello, hope you are doing well today!
Last weekend my family and I enjoyed a lovely staycation in Georgetown, courtesy of Georgetown Suites.
Georgetown Suites recently underwent a renovation and I was excited to see how the guest rooms and communal spaces looked. One thing that is especially unique to Georgetown Suites, particularly in DC, is how big the “hotel” rooms are. The rooms are more like apartments – they have kitchens, 1-bedroom or 2-bedroom + multiple bath suites, and lots of space in the rooms itself.
We stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2 bath suite and I couldn’t get over how much room we had as a family of four to spread out – or crawl in Luke’s case. 🙂
The hotel is definitely kid-friendly (and pet-friendly!), but I would say people without kids or pets, would find the hotel comfortable and accommodating too. There are still parts of the hotel that are a bit dated, but still clean and fine on the surface.
The hotel comes with a number of amenities – a workout room and a free continental breakfast daily topped my radar!
We made sure to use our weekend wisely and productively in Georgetown! We checked into the hotel around 5pm on Friday and after settling in, Ava and I went to pick up our dinner from Thunder Burger & Bar while Tommy put Luke down to bed.
After dinner Tommy, Ava, and I played some games and catch with Ava before calling it a night.
On Saturday after breakfast we decided to walk to the Georgetown waterfront for a bit.
I have never seen the Georgetown Waterfront so empty! Granted it was around 9am on a Saturday…
Pretty soon it was time for our first planned activity of the day – bowling and lunch at Pinstripes! In addition to bowling, you can also play Bocce here, and they have a full-service and yummy restaurant to enjoy brunch, lunch, dinner, and snacks from.
Ave loves to bowl. Not knowing what her attention span would be on this day, I had originally signed us up to bowl for an hour, but we were having so much fun, we added on another hour and ordered lunch while we bowled!
After bowling we started moseying back to our hotel for quiet/nap time for the kiddos, but made a very important stop on the way.
While Ave and I napped successfully, Tommy luckily/unfortunately had to spend that time with a wide-awake Luke. (Probably didn’t help that Luke fell asleep at Pinstripes, so in his mind, he had already napped!)
Once Ava and I were up and ‘atem we left our hotel room again to meet our friends Brad and Michelle and their son William (who is friends with Ava) for dinner at Tony & Joe’s Seafood Place back on the Georgetown Waterfront and then for some splash pad action!
After dinner we let the kiddos burn more energy at the splash pad on the waterfront, followed by another ice cream treat… Hey – we were on vacation!
Needless to say, we were all ready for bed that night!
On Sunday we woke up, ate breakfast at the hotel, and then Ava and I ran a quick errand before we continued on with our regularly-programmed Sunday – swimming lessons.
Thanks Georgetown Suites for a fantastic stay!
