Happy Humpy Day everyone!
A couple of weeks ago, I took a quick work trip to Boise, Idaho. I will be honest with you – before this work trip, I had never been to Boise, nor did I have any desire to go to Boise. However, I will say I was pleasantly surprised with what (very little) I was able to see and experience outside working hours.
I stayed at my Executive Director’s mother’s house and this was her view of Boise from her backyard.
On Wednesday night, I met up with a sorority sister (Go Gamma Phi!) who I hadn’t seen in probably 15 years or so, Candice, for dinner at Bar Gernika. My colleague, Kelly, also joined us. Bar Gernika has been on the “Basque Block” of downtown Boise since 1991. They serve delicious Basque food.
For lunch one day, Kelly and I ate at a cute little bistro by our house, 36th Street Bistro.
The Bistro is attached to a Garden Center and cute gardening/nursery shop. (Though we didn’t have time to wander around).
Kelly and my last “formal” dinner of the trip (on our actual last night we picked up sushi to go after our work events) was at Fork downtown. Fork serves creative and delicious farm-to-table food. We grabbed two seats at the bar (it was already packed at 5:30pm on a Thursday!) and promptly ordered cocktails and dinner.
Boise – you are kind of cool! 😉 If I had to take another work trip here, I wouldn’t be upset. Sorry I couldn’t see more of what the city had to offer, but what are you gonna do?
Have you ever been to Boise?
