Ava got a very special present from Santa this Christmas – a big girl bed!
Yes, that is correct, Tommy and I decided to “bite the bullet” and tackle this pretty significant transition with Ava. The ironic part is, our decision wasn’t because of Ava. While she knew she could get out of her crib if she really wanted to by climbing out of it or jumping out of it, she never did. She was happy as a clam in her little space. Luke on the other hand, was quickly growing out of his bassinet and thus, we needed to move him into Ava’s crib.
I didn’t think Ava would have too much difficulty making this transition as she has handled other major (and minor) life transitions like a champ, but I still wanted to play up “getting a big girl bed”.
Isn’t her bed adorable? I knew she would love a pink bed (she is ALL about the pink these days) and I thought the sparkles adorning the border of the bed were just fantastic. I got the bed frame from Macy’s and the mattress from Amazon.
I knew the selling point would be the bed set I chose for the bed. Well of course went with good ole Doc McStuffins!
Funny story. Ava’s first night in her big girl bed was a success. She slept in it until the early morning without waking up or coming into our room. At some point though she did get out of her bed to relocate to her chair we sit in to read bedtime stories…
