Am I right guys? Where has this year gone? At least the weather in D.C. is telling us that winter is drawing near. Look what we woke up to this morning:

Our first snow!
What are your plans for Thanksgiving this year? We’re doing something a little different this year, as you may have seen from earlier posts on the blog – we’re going to the Dominican Republic! That’s right – we’re saying “see ya later DC” and hitting the beach for a few days with neighbors.
With Luke’s arrival in late-August, the one thing I knew I wanted to do for Thanksgiving was have a low key one, where I didn’t really have to host, since I wasn’t sure how I would be feeling with the transition and adjustment from one kid to two kids. We toyed with the idea of heading up to Maine to see Tommy’s family, but since we had seen a majority of them in late-October and everyone’s holiday schedules were a bit wonky this year, we decided not to. We were content to just be invited to someone’s Thanksgiving at home (and happy to bring a dessert and side dish), but when our friends and neighbors asked if we would be interested in going someplace tropical for the holiday we were intrigued. We’ll be going with Ava’s good friend William and his parents, Brad and Michelle.
We settled on Punta Cuna, DR for a couple solid reasons – we were able to snag direct flights from D.C. to Punta Cuna and we didn’t have to mess around with any time changes. Wahoo!
The last time we were in Punta Cuna was for my friend Arlene’s wedding a little over 2 years ago!
For weeks I have been making packing lists for everyone since traveling with a newborn changes the travel game again, in terms of all the stuff we need to bring. With Ava getting older and older, the amount of things we needed to bring on family trips was dwindling, but alas, no more.
I picked up a couple of new-to-me things for Luke’s first trip and airplane ride. Some of these darling swimming diapers from Beau & Belle and these earmuffs for the plane and possibly loud music being play at our all-inclusive resort, Iberostar.
I’d love to hear – what are your plans for Thanksgiving this year?!
