Happy Friday, ya’ll!
Given that it’s the beginning of a new month and officially Luke’s birthday month (his EDD is August 24!), I thought I’d pop in with a pregnancy/getting ready for Luke update. Tommy, my OB, and I have decided that if Luke doesn’t come on his own by his estimated due date, I’ll get a C-section, so we definitely know he’ll be an August baby. 🙂
This past Wednesday marked the beginning of our weekly OB appointments. While I definitely felt crampy all day leading up to the visit and during the visit, after a quick check, my OB declared “nothing was happening” yet down there. Oh well. Even though I can’t wait to meet my little Mister, I’m not 100% ready for him to come yet either!
I’m feeling pretty good physically considering I’m in my 9th month and it’s definitely become a DC-esque summer in the last couple of weeks, hot and humid. I’m still working out regularly 4-5 times a week (power walks, barre, and yoga). I’ve noticed I’m especially tired after a day at work and get into a slump between 5-6:30pm, but then I get a second bout of energy that lasts until bedtime – around 10:30/11pm.
I’m still working full time (and plan to until the day I give birth, which is what I did with Ava) and going out and about with family and friends as much as I can. Guess I’m trying to squeeze it all in, since I know I’ll be house and baby bound for awhile after Luke makes his entrance into the world!
One thing I have noticed is I’m constantly hungry. Since Luke has started taking up so much room in my stomach, I have to eat small meals and snacks every hour or so to curb my hunger, since large meals just can’t cut it anymore. (Otherwise I feel uncomfortably stuffed). I’m also always thirsty, which I imagine is attributed to both the weather and the foods I’m gravitating towards (chips, pasta, salads, meat).
Emotionally, I also think I’m pretty solid. I do think pretty regularly “I can’t believe I have to go through this whole birthing, breastfeeding, and newborn process again, but I know these are very normal thoughts. I am re-reading a couple of good books I read for Ava and have also read a couple new books that friends have recommended for Luke, so this is putting me at ease that I will know what to do when Luke comes. Mostly, I’m just curious what Luke will look like, how big he’ll be, and what his personality will be like.
Luke’s nursery is pretty much done. Just waiting on the changing pad and a few more things to hang on his walls to arrive in the mail. We still need to get his carseat properly installed.
Ava CANNOT wait for Luke to come. Every day she asks me, “is he coming today”? She loves kissing Luke (my belly), checking his heartbeat with her play stethoscope, and feeding him food – either shoving a bottle into my belly or spoon-feeding my belly something. She tells everyone that Luke is in my belly and that she’s going to be a Big Sister. She also loves feeding, kissing, holding and cuddling, and changing diapers on real babies or her baby dolls. She’s constantly telling me she can’t wait to give Luke a tubby in the sink, feed him his bottle, and “show him the ropes”. She’s going to be a fantastic big sister.
Hope you all have a great Friday and weekend!
