Hello and Happy Friday from Tucson! (I’m here for a few days for work).
In other travel news, you may remember that Tommy, Ava, and I headed down to Atlanta a couple of weeks ago to visit my brother and his little family. It was a great visit – I loved seeing Ava and her cousins Gabe and Liam play together and interact so well. In my opinion, that it was family is all about and I truly hope all three kids (+ Luke when he arrives!) will continue to have a steady, consistent presence in each other’s lives.
Here is a photo recap of our long weekend if you’d like to see.
Ava was enjoying cousin time with Liam (and Gabe!)
Side Note: This was the first trip Ava and I (Tommy missed a trip here and there at times) took to Atlanta without my mom. On some level, Ava knew this and knew that something was missing, and wanted mom to be a part of this trip. Once we entered Atlanta proper she insisted on switching out the car music from Mickey Mouse to one of mom’s favorite CDs, Snatam Kaur. In our hotel room, her most favorite thing to do was “call” people on the phone (we unplugged the phone without her knowing) and the only person she would call and have conversations with? Nana. “Hi Nana, we’re going to see Uncle Marshall. Okay bye”. Hi Nana, love you”. It was so sweet (and sad) to see.
Later that day, I was able to meet up with a former colleague of mine, Julianne, for a happy hour “drink”! We went to Kaleidoscope in Brookhaven, a neighborhood/area of Atlanta I had never been to, but loved. Both Tommy and I mused if we ever moved to Atlanta we could see ourselves in Brookhaven. It reminded us of our neighborhood back home.
We liked Kaleidoscope so much we told Marshall and company to come meet us here for dinner that night!
Saturday was another action-packed day that begin with a trip to Stone Mountain Park! The park itself is located on 3,200 acres of natural beauty and offers all kinds of activities and events for people of all ages that include hiking, golf, theme park rides, a train ride, and other attractions.
We decided to do a little min-hour-long hike around the base of the mountain with our crew. It was so great to be outside and to let the kids just run wild. As you can see, Ava loved playing in the leaves!
We worked up quite an appetite after the hike so we headed to lunch before we were off to our next adventure – BOWLING at Stars and Strikes.
Loving up on daddy and Uncle Marsh!
It was great seeing my brother and his sweet little family!
Until next time.
