Happy Friday!!!! Are you one of the people that came to work today? Yours truly is. It was definitely a much more quiet and calm metro commute in and I’m definitely feeling the (kind-of) laid back vibe at the office. 🙂 After a holiday lunch with some colleagues, I’m hoping we’ll all be able to slip out a couple hours early. I’ve got a neighborhood Christmas party to attend! Hope you have a fantastic Christmas weekend (if you celebrate it).
A couple of weeks ago, Tommy and I were invited to partake in our good friends, Allison and George’s, anniversary celebration at the Watergate Hotel.Â
They both had taken the day off to enjoy themselves a spa day (because who wouldn’t) at the hotel, but later that day Tommy and I met them in the “Scandal Room” (their hotel room for the night), before heading down to to continue the celebration.
If you stood on the room’s balcony outside and peered up, you would see where the DNC Headquarters was during this period of time (and where the break in happened).
The other view from the balcony.Â
The room itself wasn’t too shabby either.

There was a nice gallery wall upon entrance of the hotel room, featuring news articles and framed quotes during the Watergate Scandal.

A replica of the equipment used during the monitoring and actual break-in.

There was even a working record player that played sweet jams.
After we had looked around the room for a bit, it was time for the “real fun” to begin! 😉
The Watergate now includes as part of it’s programming “luxurious igloo experiences” on the outdoor terrace of the Watergate’s whiskey bar. The private heated domes – which seat two to eight – start at $200 before food and beverages. The drinks and food while delicious, were pretty pricey, but it was to be expected. If you decide to partake in this experience (which is cool), just chalk it up to a fancy schmancy night in D.C.!

The Igloos.
Other wintery activities the hotel offers besides the igloos include, ice skating on the roof of the hotel and frolicking and drinking in the winter lounge on the roof. (We didn’t have time to do these things, unfortunately).
Allison and George: thank you so much for inviting Tommy and I to take part in your special anniversary celebration. It was much needed and we had so much fun drinking, laughing, and talking with you guys. So blessed to have ya’ll in our lives.
