This past Monday was Tammy, Christina, and my last “14th Street dinner” of the year. P.S. I can’t believe Tammy and my first dinner was in 2013!!!
We decided to check out Chicken and Whiskey, a self-described restaurant serving “Pollo a la Brasa & Latin street food”.
As you can see, the setting and atmosphere of the restaurant is what I would call fast and casual dining. I will be the first to admit, I knew next to nothing before coming here -except for taking a quick peak at the menu an hour or so before dinner. We decided to eat here because it was a place we hadn’t been to before. Upon arrival, I was a bit taken aback with the layout and ambiance, only because I was expecting a more sit-down restaurant.
Overall the food was good. The three of us decided to share a whole chicken meal (which came with 4 sides).
We each had a favorite side – mine was the Arroz Chaufa, Tammy liked the sweet plantains, and Christina the cole slaw.
As Tammy and I were driving home, we mused that while the food was good, it wasn’t a dining destination we would have chosen for one of these dinners. Since there were no tables with seats to sit at (only bar-type seating) it was hard to eat and converse with each other. We did notice that a lot of the people that began trickling in as the night went on were picking up food orders to go. Maybe they are on to something!
Here are to many more yummy dinners in 2018!
