Last month Tommy, Ava, and I were invited to have a sneak preview of Fair Oaks Mall’s version of its “winter wonderland” that will greet kiddos wishing and hoping to meet Santa in Washington DC this year. The theme is Santa’s Flight Academy!
Before we explored the exhibit and got to meet and take photos with the main attraction, we were treated to a special “Breakfast With Santa” at Brio Tuscan Grille.
Pretty soon Santa Claus made his appearance!
And someone was a little unsure of him. (Don’t worry, she warmed up later on!)
Ava perked up a lot once we were able to go see Santa’s (updated) Workshop down on the main level of the mall.
Elves greeted us, as people (the kiddos) created their very own personalized badges to enter the academy.
Ava had to suit up next!
Side note: Fair Oaks Mall sends you a video of your kid(s) suiting up and dancing after their visit!
Witnessing when and how the MAGIC happens.
Inserting the badge to enter Santa’s domain.
So Ava totally surprised Tommy and me. We figured she wouldn’t be cool with sitting on Santa’s lap by herself, given how apprehensive she was at Santa’s Breakfast. We had already planned to both sit with her and Santa for a super quick photo, hoping no tears or screams would be shed. Well, we were able to do just that and Tommy and I both immediately went to go look at the photos the photographer had managed to take (apparently Ms. Ava was choosing not to smile in a lot of them). After a few seconds, the photographer put a finger to her lips, immediately went to her camera again, and pointed in the direction of Santa. Ava was happily chatting away with him! When he asked if she wanted to sit on his lap, she immediately obliged – and sat there for at least 5 minutes gabbing away. Once she was done (or was told she was done – ha), she immediately began dancing and posing on the floor for another photographer hired by the mall.
I highly recommend taking your little one to Fair Oaks Mall to visit Santa. The exhibit is quite impressive. Whoever thought to include the special touch of each kid being able to create their own badge to use throughout the exhibit and take home was genius.
And now for a little giveaway!
