Hello and happy Thursday! And, I know the title of this blog post is cheesy, but I just couldn’t resist. 🙂
Last weekend, Tommy, Ava, and I took a quick road trip to Philly to visit my friend Lara, her husband Brendan, and their adorable son, Jackson.
Here is a photo recap of our trip!
We pulled into Reading Terminal Market a little after noon on Saturday. We walked around the market sampling many delicious things to eat before we met up with Lara, Brendan and Jackson at Molly Malloy’s – a pub in the market.
Waiting in line to see the Liberty Bell!
Obligatory and CUTE family photos with the Bell.
Then it was time for the summer splash park at City Hall in Dilworth Park! I must say, this experience was pretty awesome for the kiddos (a given) and me, in particular. It was just something to see kids playing in the water with a backdrop of tall, grandiose buildings.
After an action-packed day, it was time to head back to Brendan and Lara’s apartment where bath time (for the kiddos) and dinner (for kids and adults) was in order.
The next day we were ready for some “wilderness adventure”!
Lara and Brendan live within walking distance of Wissahickon Valley Park, which contains 2,042 acres of parkland in Northwest Philadelphia. The Wissahickon Creek runs through the park as well. Hiking and being outside was exactly what the doctor ordered for everyone! While it was hot, we made the most of our several hour trek trip. It did get a bit cooler once we were down in the valley.
If offering nature’s beauty wasn’t enough for this park, there is also a charming restaurant in the actual park (maybe about 2 miles from where we entered the park), alongside the creek – the Valley Green Inn. We were more than ready to eat brunch here!
We all (minus the kiddos, who just ate off their parents plates) decided to order off the price-fixe Sunday Brunch menu.
My brunch included a yummy Kale Caesar Salad and Spring Pea Bruschetta respectively.
Tommy also got the Kale Caesar Salad and the Inn Brunch Burger.
Pretty soon it was time to hike back to Lara and Brendan’s apartment so we could begin to think about getting on the road to D.C. before dark.
However, not before we got a family picture by the water!
Lara and Brendan: thank you so much for having us last weekend. Ya’ll were perfect hosts.
