Happy Monday! Hope you have a good start to the week. Today is my mom’s birthday so we’re all looking forward to taking her out to a yummy birthday dinner later tonight. 🙂
Today I’m bringing you a race recap – remember those?! Yesterday Tommy, our friend Hannah, and I ran the DC Veterans Day 10k put on by Pacers. We all needed a good long run (6.2) miles, but the extra shout out goes to Hannah. She didn’t think she could complete the race, but she finished the race (and didn’t walk!!!!) and stayed on pace with Tommy and me to boot!
Hannah’s mom was in town from North Carolina and was our very own cheerleader during the race and as we finished the race. In true mom fashion, she also couldn’t believe Hannah did so well with the race. 😉

Getting excited for the race to start with pre-race pics!

About to take off!
The race started at 8am in West Potomac Park. We ran by the Tidal Basin, the Potomac River, and Haines Point before looping back around. The weather was absolutely GORGEOUS. Sunny and cool, but not windy. We couldn’t have been blessed with better running weather.
Our gang finished at 1:07:33 and we were all pretty happy with that time, considering neither of us had run that long in awhile. The race certainly got us all pumped up to look into another race to run soon. Perhaps the DC Jingle All the Way 15k?!
How cool are our Finisher medals?!
Once we had made pit stops and stretched for a bit we all started walking over to Old Ebbitt Grill for a celebratory brunch!
I took some great photos along the way as we walked across the National Mall.
Once we were seated at Old Ebbitt we each ordered a celebratory alcoholic beverage: Hannah’s mom had a mimosa, Hannah and I had Bellinis, and Tommy ordered a Guinness.
Tommy and I ordered the breakfast of champs that we were!

Me: Fried Oyster Egg Benedict.

Tommy: French Toast Breakfast Club: bacon-wrapped ham sandwich, mixed berry compote, pecan butter, Vermont maple syrup. Oh yes he did.
We were treated to another post-race surprise when our Uber dropped us off at home. Ava had been napping for about an hour already and she continued napping for another 1.5 hours allowing Tommy and I to rest after our early and busy morning. It was glorious!
The rest of our Sunday was spent watching football and me grocery and Target shopping while Tommy and Ava played at the park.
