Hello and happy hump day afternoon!
This morning my friend Allison and I did a fun, out-of-the-norm thing – we went to Luke’s Diner from Gilmore Girls! In anticipation and excitement of the Gilmore Girls revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Netflix had more than 200 coffeehouses nationwide turn into Luke’s Diner for the day Today is also the 16th anniversary of when Gilmore Girls premiered on TV – can you believe it?
Allison and I met at Three Fifty Bakery and Coffee Bar in DC this morning and as you can see from the photos below we weren’t the only ones who thought we’d swing by!
Not going to lie, I naively/stupidly thought Allison and I would meet at “Luke’s” at 9am, order our coffee and pastry, and have a relaxing 2-hour chat before my haircut appointment across town. Yea…more like Maya arrives at 9:05am, is joined by Allison at 10:00am, we enter “the diner” at 10:45am, we sip on our coffees and shovel our chosen pastries in our mouths because we are starving as we both worked out (separately) before coming here, and then we depart at 11:15am or so. Totally worth it though!
Inside there were a few Gilmore-esque decorations:
My breakfast consisted of a latte and a cheese, tomato and mozzarella quiche.
So funny tidbit: I actually didn’t even watch the show when it was on TV. I just started this past year, in July, when I was in Atlanta for the 4th of July. Since Ava goes to bed so early, mom and I had our nights free so I stumbled on an episode from season 7 (the last season to date) on TV and watched it. It caught my interest so when I was back home I began watching the series on Netflix from that episode until the end of the series. It was only a few weeks ago that I started from the very BEGINNING of the series and now hope to complete the series before I begin work next Monday.
Cheers to a great morning!
PS: how cool would it have been to be at this pop-up in Beverly Hills this morning?!
Are you a Gilmore Girls fan?
