Happy Monday everyone!
As with all weekends this one past by very quickly, but as it was a weekend filled with fun activities and some relaxation that’s a win. It also means that our Dominican Republic trip is right around the corner – we leave Wednesday morning!
A couple highlights of the weekend included a happy hour we hosted at our house on Friday evening and a sailing adventure my friend Hannah and I went on Saturday afternoon.
It had been awhile since we had seen some family friends from Cairo, that live in the area now, so I had reached out a couple of weeks ago to see when we could all get together for drinks and appetizers at our house. It took some coordinating as we were taking into account 9 people’s schedules, but Friday was the day everyone but one could make it so we locked it in. It was a great couple hours catching up, drinking and munching. Ava had a great time as one of our guests, Maria, has an 8-month-old son, Jack, so Ava liked playing “big sister” to him! Violet also loved being part of the party action.
The food spread included:
- Skinny Buffalo Chicken Dip – I live by this skinnytaste recipe
- Baby carrots
- An assortment of chips and crackers from our new neighborhood ALDI.
- An assortment of cheese and meat from our neighborhood Harris Teeter
- And lots of wine, red & white, and beer
It was the perfect way to spend a relaxing Friday night.
On Saturday my friend Hannah and I “set sail” with fellow GW (The George Washington University) alumni! We boarded the American Spirit at DC Sail along the southwest waterfront on a VERY sunny and clear afternoon.
The sail lasted for about 3 hours and was lovely. Once we picked up speed on the Potomac River and later the Anacostia River the wind was blowing in our offices giving us all a reprieve from the heat. There were snacks and drinks on board and attendees were encouraged to also bring their beverage of choice. Hannah was in charge of our drink selection and of course she brought #roseallday.
If everything goes according to plan, Hannah and I have another sailing trip in our near future! 🙂
