Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We sure did in the Comeau Clan. As you’ll see most of it revolved around eating!
On Friday night my mom and I met up with my high school best friend, Marissa, and her mom at Founding Farmers to catch-up over drinks and dinner. Marissa moved to Kazakhstan last year for work. Both my mom and I were very eager to hear how she liked living and working in Central Asia. She loves it! And she may have convinced some people at dinner to plan a trip out there to visit her…:-)
After Ava’s music class in the morning we had a couple of people over for brunch, Marissa (she wanted to see Tommy, Ava, and Violet on this trip) and my friend Carolyn. I forgot to take pictures of this brunch, but here is what was served:
Drinks: Coffee & Mimosas
Food: Fruit salad, spinach quiche, waffles, and sausage.
Later that evening (after Ava and I went on a run. The weather was GORGEOUS!) Tommy, Ava and I went to a local chili cook-off put on by our neighborhood association. I had seen a flyer for this cook-off earlier in the week and thought it’d be a fun, neighborhoody thing to do. It was also an interesting (and cheap!) way to go out for dinner. All the chili dishes we sampled were delicious and Port City Brewing Company was at the event so the beer selection was great!
In addition to chili and beer, there was a live band and a balloon-maker & face-painter for the kids. As you can see Ava was definitely into the band!
On Sunday the big event of the day was going out to brunch at Bar Deco in Gallery Place with our nanny-share family. We had so much fun! And as you can see below our girls love each other, which makes everyone so happy.
We all thought Bar Deco was great. We loved the ambiance, the drinks we ordered and the food. Special side note? A waiter overheard Tommy and Ryan talking about Tommy’s time in the Marines so he brought over a special shot for Tommy on the house! Turns out the owner’s brother was a Marine (unfortunately not here anymore) so he has devoted his life to celebrating and honoring all service men and women. Pretty cool.
For my entree I ordered the Fried Oyster Scramble, which was so good.
I also ordered a mimosa and a special “Deco Mimosa”. However I was unable to take a picture of the latter before Ava spilled it all over me! Luckily our waitress was kind enough to bring me another one free-of-charge.
We all definitely recommend going to Bar Deco at some point. They also have a rooftop to enjoy when it gets warmer outside.
It was a good thing I had signed up for a yoga class later that night, as my stomach was getting too much action!
Hope your Monday is going great!
