Like I am sure most first-time expectant mothers do, when I began thinking about what to pack in my hospital bag – which I refer to as my Go Bag – I consulted several sources: my baby book’s suggestion, a couple of baby and motherhood blogs, suggested packing items that my doctor and hospital provided, and lastly and most importantly advice from my friends and family who had actually packed a Go Bag before.
One thing that was not on everyone’s “must pack” list, but really struck a chord with me was bringing something for the nurses to enjoy, whether it be a sweet or salty treat. I loved this idea from the start because why wouldn’t you want to provide a little something for the nurses that are essentially at your beck and call for hours on end, seeing you at your absolute worst, all the while remaining positive, upbeat, and incredibly helpful?
Now while the treats Tommy and I plan on bringing for our nurses when our time comes to go to the hospital aren’t overly fancy, I hope they will enjoy them. Who doesn’t love a good chocolate chip cookie?
When deciding what to make I knew it was going to be a cookie of some sort because it allowed me to make the cookie dough ahead of time (which I did last weekend), store it in the freezer and fridge, and then make the actual cookies when my due date was closer. I decided to make the cookies today since Ava’s due date is tomorrow. Here is to hoping she comes sometime in the next few days. I think I can get away with storing and freezing the baked cookies for a few more days. Otherwise I may have to repeat my efforts.
Please send positive thoughts our way!
