Tommy and I are expecting our first child in late April 2015! (Our estimated due date is April 24, 2014). While we have known for several months that we are expecting it was just yesterday that we found out whether we were having a boy or a girl.
We are having….A GIRL!!!!
It’s all still a little surreal, but we are so excited about our little bundle of joy and we now feel like the true planning can begin. 🙂
Tommy and I decided to find out the sex of our baby together with family and friends near and far with a gender reveal cake. (You find out the sex of the baby when you cut into a cake and see if it’s pink for a girl or blue for a boy on the inside). So yesterday we had an informal “Gender Reveal Party” at my mom’s condo. Friends that live in the area came by for champagne, nibbles and treats – and of course to find out the verdict! Other friends and family members that weren’t able to come in person had the option of seeing us cut the cake online via Google Hangout. It was extra special because both Tommy and my mom were able to be here for the big moment (so far!)
As guests entered we had them decide what their vote was before the reveal – Mister or Miss. At the end of the party it was an even split!
We kept the decorations (table cloth, plates, napkins, cutlery, and flowers) a gender neutral yellow.

Thanks to everyone who came out and joined in yesterday for this great moment. It meant so much to Tommy, our mothers, and me!
Have you ever been to a gender reveal party?
