Happy Friday folks!
I hope everyone has a good Memorial Day weekend planned. Tommy and I will be heading to Dallas for the weekend. Just need to get this work thing out of the way today. 🙂
The 14th Street eating tour continues!
Last night Tammy, Miki, and I tried Lupo Verde, an Italian restaurant one of my co-workers recommended.
It was good! We all loved the ambiance and feel of the place. The restaurant is housed in an old town home. I liked the decor inside – hydrangea flower boxes, different shaped mirrors, rustic-looking chandeliers, a cozy bar downstairs, a dining room upstairs and a beautiful brick wall lined with various wine bottles.
All the food we ordered was delicious, including their complimentary herb bread. It was so good we had to keep asking for our waiter to replenish the basket because each serving only contained as many pieces of bread as people in your party. So in our case 3 pieces of bread. A little stingy if you asked us!
Yours truly decided to start with a glass of white wine.
For our appetizer we decided to try the charcuterie board. We decided on a burrata, a goat, and a pecorino cheese. We also ordered pancetta and proscuitto. We loved the entire thing. The honey and pear spread was good, the pickles were interesting, and the grilled bread slices were just right.
Next came the entrees. We all decided to try a pasta dish since all the noodles were handmade in house.
Miki and I both decided to order the carbonara.
While Tammy ordered the tagliatelle.
It’s funny. At the time we were eating we thought the pasta portions were small (which to be fair we were warned about) and the time between us eating our cheese and meat plate to when our entrees arrived was a little prolonged, but as we were leaving the restaurant we realized we were completely satisfied. Not stuffed, but satisfied. Hmmm maybe the Italians or at the very least the folks at Lupo Verde are on to something – maybe there is something to be said about not eating huge portions and inhaling your food at dinner. 🙂
I would definitely come back to Lupo Verde. I think it would be a great spot for a date night or a small birthday dinner.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
