I can finally officially share some good news that has been in the works for a few months – Tommy and I are moving! Not too far away, but we will not be in D.C. proper anymore. We are moving to Chesapeake Beach, Maryland – about a 30-35 minute drive outside of D.C.
We are both incredibly thrilled to have a brand new house to nest in (we had it built) and to have a bit more space than our condo allowed. If I were being completely honest, I would say Tommy is in seventh heaven and while I am excited, I do acknowledge that the move will be an adjustment – just because I will not be in the city anymore. (I am a self-proclaimed, loud and proud city girl). Albeit, I will be coming to work in D.C. every single day so it’s not like I’ll never step foot in the District again! But still, it’s a change.
Our movers will be coming this weekend, but Tommy, my mom, Violet, and I went to the new house yesterday with a load of things to drop off because we were so excited to get things moving. I put up some Christmas decorations that I have been longing to take out (since we were moving I didn’t want to unpack everything in the condo to have to pack it up all over again fort the move), and outfitted our bathrooms with toilet paper and hand towels. It’s funny to think that I am going from a place with one bathroom to another with 3.5 bathrooms. I see many Target trips in my future!
While I am sure there will be some growing pains on my end (definitely not Tommy and Violet’s – both were absolutely beaming the entire time we were there yesterday) it’s hard not to get excited about my new surroundings.
This is right across the street from our neighborhood:
For you current cityslickers out there, do you see yourself ever moving out of the city?
