I hosted a SMU Alumni Team Leadership meeting last night after work. As part of the nibbles I provided I decided to make baked apples for the first time. I still have many apples left from apple picking and I wanted to try making some as I have never done it before.
Lucky for me I found a super easy crockpot recipe on Pinterest!
Crockpot Baked Apple Slices
Ingredients:
- 5 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 2 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 1 Tbsp butter, cubed
Directions:
- Peel, core, and slice the apples.
2. Add apples, sugars, apple juice, cornstarch, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla to crockpot, stirring to incorporate.
3. Place butter on top of apples
4. Cook on high for 1 1/2 hours or on low for 4-5 hours. Stir mixture halfway through cooking.
*Water can be substituted for apple juice.
Hope everyone has a great Columbus Day weekend!
