I’m not exactly sure when I became a “runner” as I have been described as. I ran cross-country in high school, and then ran pretty regularly through college, and post college (at least three times a week). I didn’t necessarily do it because I loved running, it was just something active to do that I could do, and sometimes did with friends which made it more enjoyable for sure. Running a half marathon never even occurred to me. 1) I didn’t think I could do it and 2) I didn’t want to do it. [Read more…]
On Saturday, Tommy, our two friends Chris and Miki (a lovely married couple), their dog, Ms. V and I went to Chesapeake Beach for a picnic and a doggy play date. Chesapeake Beach is a town in Calvert Country, Maryland about a half or so drive from D.C. [Read more…]
1) After running the Electric 5k, Julie and I met up with my friend Allison for dinner. She had a friend visiting from Dallas she wanted me to meet. We decided to eat at McLoone’s Pier House, which was conveniently located right by the finish line for the race! I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Fettuccine. It was divine. [Read more…]

On Sunday I woke up at 5am to bang out a workout before hopping on the train to New York City so I could partake in some of the weekend-long festivities for my friend Christina’s 30th birthday. (You may remember that Christina was my San Francisco, wine country, half marathon buddy). Unfortunately due to my earlier holiday weekend plans (here & here), I couldn’t join until the last two days of the long weekend celebration. 1) Tommy and I went to a wedding on Saturday night for our friends Nova and Shimon. It was a lovely ceremony, very informal and intimate. What I loved most about this wedding was a ritual of the “warming of the rings” that was done during the ceremony. Right at the beginning the pastor asked that each person in the audience take the wedding rings and cup them in our hands to warm them and say a prayer or blessing for the couple. I had never heard or done this before and I really liked it. [Read more…]
