The Clarendon 10k came and went! It was so much fun running with my friend Katie and my co-worker Andrea. I can’t speak for them, but the music playing before the race began definitely got me pumped up. 🙂 [Read more…]

Clarendon Outing
Last night my friend Katie and I took an outing to Clarendon, VA (a suburb in Northern Virginia) after work. We had plans to pick up our race packets for the Clarendon 10k on Saturday and then were going to grab a bite to eat at Liberty Tavern. It was a pretty good evening out in the ‘burbs if I do say so myself. 🙂
I really like the race day shirt that came in our race packet. Usually I am not a fan of these, but I was pleasantly surprised. I may even wear it on race day! [Read more…]
Pei Wei Hits D.C.
Big news everyone, big news. Pei Wei has finally decided to grace D.C. with its presence.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with Pei Wei, it is a more casual Asian fusion restaurant that is owned by P.F. Chang’s, a more high end Asian restaurant. I used to go here all the time when I lived in Dallas. The food was just as delicious as the food at its parent restaurant, P.F. Chang’s, but cheaper. For a college student, SCORE! [Read more…]
On Wednesday Morning, Yeah Yeah
First of all, anyone recognize the lyric for part of the song I modified for today’s post title?
Early this morning I finished my last training run before the Clarendon 10k race this Saturday. As you may remember I am a huge fan of morning runs. I felt pretty sluggish on the actual run, but my Garmin showed that my running time and pace was pretty on par with all of my other training. With the exception of going to a Vinyasa class on Friday evening I plan on resting for the next two days before the race. I’m excited to run it, but I think I need to take a break from training runs. I am feeling a little burned out. [Read more…]

Picnic at Columbia Island Marina
My fellow SMU (Southern Methodist University’s) D.C. Alumni Leadership members and I hosted an alumni picnic this past Sunday at Columbia Island Marina. The Marina is nestled in the Lyndon B. Johnson Memorial Grove on the Pentagon lagoon. Not only is it a beautiful place to dock one’s boat and/or enter the Potomac River for fishing or cruising by the monuments, there is also an amazing picnic area for small and large parties (tented and not tented). As well as an area to play volleyball and football. [Read more…]
Star of the Show
On Saturday night Tommy and I had our friends Kerry and Marcus over for dinner. Kerry and I went to high school together in Cairo, Egypt. She and I both ended up going back to Cairo the year we graduated college for different reasons. She was already engaged to Marcus when they came to Cairo and Tommy and I had recently just started dating. Eight years later, graduate school and work brought them to the D.C. area this past summer. Small world! [Read more…]
Tuesday Tidbits – 45
Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims friends and families in the mass shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. Like many others I watched in horror and sadness at all of the unfolding news coverage on TV.
