I have had a couple of days to process all that has happened in Oklahoma and the surrounding areas due to devastating tornadoes. It still makes my eyes water when I see footage of all the tornadoes destruction especially in Moore. I can’t imagine what those children, teachers, and parents went through during the tornado and in the aftermath of the tornado. My thoughts and prayers are with all those who were affected. On a positive note, I find it incredibly uplifting to see all the support (emotional and financial) that has come to these people and towns from individuals and corporations.
I found myself in Beantown again earlier this week for work. I figured why not mix a little work with pleasure and was able to see my friend Lisa from college, for dinner on Monday night and again for a quick lunch on Tuesday before I headed to the airport.
Apparently they have a El Centro in Boston, as well as D.C. (and I am sure several other cities as it is not an uncommon name for a Mexican restaurant.) The two restaurant locations in Boston and D.C. aren’t related at all either, just share the same name.
The El Centro in Boston is tucked away in a neighborhood in the South end. It’s a smaller – sized restaurant with lots of character and ambiance and great menu items based off what Lisa and I ordered. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. I ended up paying $11 for my dinner.
I started with an iced tea and then decided to order the tamale appetizer and a beef taco for dinner. They were both soooo yummy!
It was a delightful Monday night and I was so happy to have gotten the chance to catch up with Lisa over dinner.
