Yesterday marked the first official day of my 2nd half marathon training plan!!
As mentioned a few times on the blog, my friend Christina and I will be running the Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon on July 21! I honestly cannot believe it is already time to train for this race. Even though I have been exercising regularly since my first half marathon (running, lifting, inner fitness), I’m excited to have something to officially train for again. But man time flies and I know it’ll be tough to maintain my training since I have a lot of upcoming travel in the next few months, work and personal.
For this race I will be following Hal Higdon’s Novice 2 training program. Yesterday I did 60 minutes on the bike for cross-training. While today is technically my rest day, I’m going to do 45 minutes of Pilates after work at Vida. I think it’ll be good to do more stretching and core strengthening. Tomorrow bright and early I’ll be running 4 miles.
Travel update: Christina and I have made reservations at our hotel in Napa and San Francisco (we will be spending a few days after the race exploring wine country and getting into trouble in SF 🙂 ) We have already registered for the race. We still need to buy our airplane tickets, reserve a rental car, and put together a loose itinerary of the wineries and restaurants we’d like to go to. We’ve been trading emails back and forth with ideas and suggestions from people, but it’ll be nice to have a few wineries we know we want to go to as well as some restaurant options to maximize our time there.
Cannot wait for this trip!!!
Anyone currently or beginning to train for a half marathon now?
