I went to a new (to me) restaurant with Tommy and a couple of our friends in Shirlington. Shirlington is a neighborhood in Arlington, which isn’t too far from D.C. (It took us 15 minutes to drive here for dinner).
Cheestique is described as a cheese boutique that is a restaurant as well as a shop. Bottom line, it is a place for all cheese lovers! There are 2 locations, the Shirlington one and the original Cheestique in Del Ray, a neighborhood in Alexandria (also not too far from D.C.)
As you walk into Cheesetique, you enter the store portion first. Lots and lots of cheeses, crackers, cookies, and of course, wine, greet you. (How can you have cheese, but no wine?!) I could definitely do some damage here!
As we waited for our friends to arrive, Tommy and I enjoyed a beverage each. I ordered a glass of Rose Cava, which is a dry, sparkling rose with a hint of red berries, so we could toast to my new job!
The best part was yet to come, dinner! Everything we ordered was so tasty. To start, Tommy and I split the Pear and Gorgonzola Flatbread.
For my entree, I got the Lobster Mac. HEAVEN. Tommy got the Mushroom Meltdown Grilled Cheese Sandwich, which I had a couple of bites of. Yummy too.
And for dessert, Tommy and I split their Homemade Cheesecake. Again, so good.
As we were leaving the restaurant, I told Tommy I was definitely coming back again. They serve brunch on Sunday which sounded really good to me. However, I must note, that at least at the Shirlington location the restaurant portion of the place is pretty small. Since they don’t take reservations, expect to wait a little bit for a table.
I also plan on hitting up the store for a nice selection of wine and cheeses for my pantry and for gift baskets as hostess gifts, etc. My favorite cheeses are brie, goat cheese, and cheese with bits of fruit in them, particularly blueberries or cranberries. The one type of cheese I know I do NOT like is blue cheese – it is too strong for my liking.
