When Tommy told a work colleague of his we were planning on going to Skyline Drive for a day he told him that we must stop by Applehouse. Applehouse is family-owned business in Linden, Virginia, located at the North Entrance to Skyline Drive.
Applehouse is your one-stop -shop so-to-speak. One part of Applehouse is a gift shop that sells everything from trinkets to jams to apple butter to wine and sparkling cider and more. The other part of Applehouse is a restaurant that sells Virginia hams, BBQ, and most importantly their famous Apple Butter Doughnuts. (This is the true reason why his colleague told us to go here!) Even though I have never been a fan of any kind of doughnut, I tried one and it was pretty good. Tommy ate five…
The next time I stop by when I’m in the area, I plan on enjoying some BBQ right by the fireplace! Because we hit Applehouse before we got to Skyline Drive, we hadn’t yet worked up an appetite to warrant ordering yummy BBQ. Doughnuts yes, BBQ no. 😉
The famous Apple Butter Doughnuts. Tommy bought a half dozen for us (er, him) and another half dozen for his colleagues at work – what a guy!
Tommy also bought apple fritters for us to snack on during our drive along Skyline Drive.
And of course, I couldn’t get out of there without buying a few things myself…
