Half Marathon Training – thinking ahead & some reservations
Happy 25th birthday to my “little bro” Marshall! I really can’t believe you are 25 now….
I will officially start training for the Rock ‘N’ Roll Half on Monday, December 17th! According to Hal Higdon’s Novice 1 Training Program I should start training three months prior to my race. Technically since the race is on March 16, I should be starting my official training a day earlier, but I didn’t want to start my training on a Sunday. Hopefully the one day won’t matter all that much. [Read more…]
What in the world is going on in Egypt?
Another guest blogger, Teresa, currently lives in Cairo. I thought it would be interesting to get a first hand perspective of what was happening in the city and throughout the country right now, as this country holds a special place in my heart. I truly hope things get better on this side of the world. [Read more…]
Tuesday Tidbits 5
This week’s Tuesday Tidbits is devoted to all the things I am excited to do this holiday season!
1. Our annual holiday party. Ever since we moved to D.C. in 2006 we have always hosted some kind of holiday party in December. This year is no different, though we are trying something new this year. Instead of hosting it at our place as we always have, we are renting a portion of a restaurant for our party this year. Can’t wait! [Read more…]
Tap Dogs
Tommy surprised me with two tickets to see Tap Dogs at Strathmore Music Center in North Bethesda on Saturday night. I was excited for two reasons: I had never heard of Tap Dogs before and was looking forward to seeing the show and because I had never been to Strathmore before. As you know, I love going to new places! [Read more…]
Black Friday Tradition
I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving!
Tommy, Violet and I were in bed by 9:36pm if that is any indication of how our Thanksgiving went. Our bellies were full and Tommy and all the other Redskins fans were happy with the final score of the football game. Cowboys fans? Not so much. [Read more…]
Cookin’ and Trottin’!
Behold my food contributions to Thanksgiving dinner this year! As mentioned before, I was put in charge of baking the pumpkin pies, making baked mac ‘n’ cheese, and whipping up caramelized brussels sprouts! [Read more…]
Very Thankful

My top 6 Travel Destinations – Domestic & International
For those who have read my blog before – it is no secret that travel is one of my passions. I just love jetting off and exploring new and old destinations. I have given this list a lot of thought and trimming it down to just six places in total for domestic and international travel was super tough. You’ll see that a lot of these places have significant meaning. My one rule for this list was that I only chose places where I have never been before. Hopefully I can get cracking on this list in 2013! [Read more…]
Tuesday Tidbits 4
This week’s “Tuesday Tidbits” is devoted to the grand opening of Canal Park and the latest going-ons around the Navy Yard – Ballpark area.
1. This past weekend was the grand opening of Canal Park. Along with a ribbon – cutting ceremony on Friday, the long anticipated ice – skating rink opened to the public. Unfortunately the restaurant, The Park Tavern, that shares the same space with the rink isn’t open just yet. Though I did peak inside this weekend and it looks great. Can’t wait to eat a meal here!
